30 March 2007 Daisy, Week Three and Week Four
Thursday, 22 March
Week three for Daiz has gone pretty well. On Monday, we learned why it is important not to sit on Mommy when she's home sick from work. It makes her already laboured-due-to-allergies breathing even worse when your boney heiney is on her lungs. On Tuesday, we learned not to run underneath Hunky when he is going out the back door. He will eventually move if we are patient, and lifting him a foot off the ground while he's trotting only serves to make him cross. On Wednesday, we learned LOTS of things. We learned that if Jeany eats poo in the backyard Mommy brushes EVERYONE'S teef. We learned that taking the glass that Mommy had tea in that she left on the coffee table to a dog bed is not the smartest idea we've ever had. Further, we learned that if Mommy is asleep on the couch and we step on her windpipe in an effort to snuggle up as close as possible to her she turns a very interesting shade of purple. Today we learned about the BROILER. When Mommy has something yummy under the BROILER we should not put our noses anywhere near it. Mommy says that if we do, it becomes a BROIL-HER and that it will hurt a lot. Also, we learned that sitting in the chair and a half that Mommy sits in WITH Mommy will make her get up and move to the sofa, therefore giving us more room to stretch. Other random things we've learned this week: Daisy...I still look at her sometimes and have to pinch myself that she's real... Friday, 30 March Week Four was a little better than three...
I love my Leelo Baby-Girl.

27 March 2007 No Longer Waiting What? Originally uploaded by NanLassiter. ...for Daisy. She's come home, and she's made our house home again. Whether she is being quiet on her bed, like in this photo, or tearing around the house like a mad dog, something illegal in her mouth, tail wagging...I just love her. And I can't believe that after two years, I don't have to wait anymore for Daisy.

06 February 2007 Back in Jax... The kids have come home from Orlando, and are back at the farm with Uncle Eric awaiting their retirement careers! Just to tide folks over, here are some pictures of the racing phenoms...okay they weren't phenoms but all four of them I THINK hit at least B at SOKC. Daiz, Casey, and Hallie were grade A racers there and don't think for a second that I hesitate to brag on my baby girl and her siblings. Miss Sophie Sox will be going home, we think, because her pre-adopter was approved so now we just need homes for Beautiful Bonnie and Casanova Casey... Yeah, that's why I don't write copy for greyhound adoption groups' websites anymore. Anyway, on with the Leelo Babies because I know some of this blog's readers followed more than just my babygirl's career... From top to bottom: Angel Sophie Sox...FTH Sophie Sox, Hallie Hot Stuff Jalepeno... FTH Hallie Pino, my beautiful babygirl Daiz...FTH Oopsie Daisy, and the Moose himself, Casey... FTH Hurrycane. 28 January 2007 Not for much longer...
On August 12, 2004, the most beautiful little greyhound in the world was born. She was called Daisy, known to her racing fans as FTH Oopsie Daisy.
She grew up and in July of the next year she went to school to learn how to be a racer. Upon her triumphant return to Jacksonville, she soon met her soon-to-be Mommy, who had been watching and loving this little greyhound girly from afar for almost two years. She tried really hard at Jacksonville but wasn't as fast as the other dogs, so in a few months she made a trip down the road to Orlando to compete against some other dogs. Through no fault of her own, her racing career was interrupted by some illness and other problems in the kennel, but the decision was made to let her try one more time because she got up to grade A at Orlando. It seems that Daiz and her sister Hallie and brother Casey are ready to come home and be pets...so very soon the next phase of my baby girl's life will start...with me! One hundred thousand thank yous to Mama Caffie and Daddy Bill for believing in my babygirl and for letting me have the chance to have her in my life. I have to believe that Profile's spirit has been with Daisy these past few days, telling her that life with me is pretty cool and that my sofas are very soft...so watch this space for updates on Daisy's homecoming!

28 December 2006 For those of you still waiting...and I know you are... Daisy isn't coming home...yet. There was a change in ownership of the kennel that is running the FTH dogs, and it seems that the girls missed their hormone shots, went into season, and just generally weren't running at the top of their game. So they, Daiz included, are getting some well deserved rest and then will be schooled back into active rotation. Since I last wrote, another Leelo Baby has left her racing career behind to find a new life as a pet! Angel Sophie Sox is recouperating on the farm from a minor injury and when she is good to go, she has a home waiting. Good luck, beautiful girl!! Hallie and Daiz are still on the "injured" list but Casey ran just last night, and ran just last. Poor big guy. I guess the visit from Mama Caffie on Tuesday made him think he was going back home with her! Better luck next time, handsome. Finally, just because she's the most beautiful red fawn babygirl on the planet...here are some pictures of my Daisy-Baby, courtesy of Dogstar Photography/Daisy's Unka Chris: And yes, I'm working on getting a new collar down there to her, MC told me that one has been worn to the point that it has a rip to the webbing. Not bad for wearing every day since March, huh?

16 November 2006 I hate Daiz not being at JAX/OP
I really think she was spooked by a possible fall she took awhile back (in her lines it said Collided) because after that race she's been going steadily downhill and all of it is because of problems in the first turn. Check out last night's results:
NINTH RACE Grade C 5-16 Mile Track F Time 30.92 Forced Wide says to me that she isn't trying to bust through the pack anymore. PLUS she got an outside box which didn't help. If she was at JAX I'd be able to ask MC and DB to check on her, I'd know if the collision was a fall or a bump...I'd just know more about what was going on with my babygirl. I hate not knowing.
