No Longer Waiting for Casey, Bonnie-Boo, or Dodger...

Six pups from B&J went down to Orlando on Friday, three of which were Daiz's siblings Casey (FTH Hurrycane), Bonnie (FTH Lights Out), and Dodger (FTH Storm Dodger). I am still not sure when "Daisy Mae" as Cathie called her is heading down to Mouse-Town...but I'm sure that Daddy Bill will send her when he has room to do so.

From Cathie this morning, re: "Daisy Mae"
Hey, guess what? I think she's getting friendlier!! This past weekend she was much more responsive to lovies.
This is a good thing, as Daiz was very unsure of me when I visited her in the kennel in March. Cathie and I were discussing that and she said Daiz has a lot of her mom, Leelo, in her. Leelo is friendly with people that she knows but is a bit aloof and standoffish if she doesn't know you, and Daiz is looking to be that same way.

Gosh I'd love to give that little girlie a hug...

Daisy on the Road

After several attempts, it seems Daiz is not fast enough for Jacksonville/OP. This is not really a surprise, for two reasons. One, this is one of the fastest tracks in the state. It takes a really special greyhound to excel here, and while Daiz is plenty special in lots of ways, speed isn't one of them. Two, this litter was an unplanned breeding. Her parents were not spectacular racers, so it isn't a stretch that their offspring wouldn't be either.

So Daiz and some of her siblings are heading to Orlando to try their luck there. Cathie let me know ahead of time and gave me the option to bring her home now, but I'm just not ready. I mean, I could be, if she had to come now of course I would make myself ready...but if she can have a chance to keep running as long as she's able and still showing a good effort, then I felt like I couldn't deny her that. Also, this is a chance for her to make back some of the money (not much, but some) that Mama Cathie and Daddy Bill have put into this litter of pups.

The only negative, really, is that I can't watch her races on the computer anymore because Orlando doesn't have a live feed. I do, however, have some friends in Orlando so if she stays there awhile I might have to take a little road trip. If she doesn't do well, she won't move on anywhere except home with me and her brothers and sister (and kitty brother and sister)...provided she is cat safe.

I'll be posting her results from Orlando here just as I did the JAX ones so stay tuned. Run fast, babygirl, fast and safe!

From Daisy's "Grandma" to be...

My mom and dad surprised me this weekend when I found this in my "easter" basket:

It's a bookmark, with part of Daiz's registered name on it. How cool is that?? You might recognize it from the bits of it I included in the new masthead image...Thanks Mom and Dad!!
